Q Transmissions

This Week: Think of the Children

Posted in upcoming shows by Desiree on December 22, 2008

Do you ever find yourself thinking “what is it with kids today?”

Maybe some variation on “do they even teach science in school anymore?” or “I weep for the future.”

Do you wonder what young people think about god, or astrology, or UFOs?

Are you curious as to what the child of a skeptical parent turned out like?

Have all your “shaking your cane yelling get off my lawn” questions answered by an ACTUAL YOUTH on the next Q Transmissions, every Friday at 6pm on CJSR.

Full Disclosure: Heather is away, my son is in town, and I think he’s fascinating. Don’t like it? Get your own show.  🙂

Thanks again to Cathy Jacobs for being our guest.

Also, please give us your thoughts on the show in the comments. I wanna know how you felt about it. I mean, we always do, but this one in particular.

(Thanks also to Des for some of these links. But the really scienc-ey one is mine. I’m just sayin’.)

I am curious Indigo…

This Friday we’ll be talking about Indigo Children.

What’s that?, I imagine you crying – kids who hold their breath too long?

No.

Indigo (or Crystal) Children are believed by some to be the next step in human evolution.

Are they? Or are their parents just deluded?

Tune in at 6 o’clock this Friday and maybe we’ll all find out together.

Listen live at 88.5 FM or online at ww.cjsr.com.

Post-show links

Posted in links by Desiree on October 11, 2008

Thanks so much to Brad for coming on the show this evening to talk with us about skeptical parenting. And thanks as always to the callers and listeners, without whom we’d have no show.

Here are some links to other lovely skeptical/secular parenting blogs:

Perky Skeptic

Skeptic Dad

Rational Moms

Domestic Father

Parenting Beyond Belief

If you know of other resources for skeptical parents/aunts/uncles/grandparents/cousins-twice-removed, please post them below. I’m also particularly interested in developing a list of kids books with a skeptical bent. It’s just one more way of encouraging intelligent people to breed.

On an unfortunate note, the system that we use to upload our shows is down. So those of you that only listen to the program as a podcast, you’re out of luck for the moment. My apologies and we should be up and running again soon.

See you next week!

Skeptical Parenting

Posted in upcoming shows by Desiree on October 4, 2008

There’s no link round-up for tonight’s Cognitive Dissonance show, as we really didn’t get around to talking about it. Our audience had far more interesting ideas for subject matter.

And we love that. Honestly. We can do another “How and Why We Believe” show another time.

Thanks again to everyone who called in, tried to call in, or sat in their basement yelling comments at their radio.

Next week we’ll have Skepdad blogger Brad Salomons in the studio, talking to us about bringing up kids to be critical thinking adults. Otherwise known as, “How to eventually be out-reasoned by a three year old.”

You can check out his blog here.

See you next week!
