Paranormal Investigations: Post-show Links and Contest Winner
As announced on tonight’s show, the people have spoken and we have a winner in the Fervent Unbeliever Song Contest!
The first-place ribbon goes to Entry 4, the Leonard Cohen-esque rendition sung by David Climenhaga. Congratulations, David! Honorable mention goes to Entry 2, sung by Q Transmissions uberfan Nathan. To listen to those entries again, head back to the original entries page here.
Thanks so much to everyone who entered and voted. That was fun. ![]()
On to tonight’s show… thanks so much to the E.C.H.O.E.S team for being with us. You can definitely look forward to an upcoming show where Heather and I head out with crew for an investigation. Here’s tonight’s link round-up.

Next Show: Paranormal Investigations
Ghost hunters have been around as long as people have thought there were ghosts. For these guys, scary sounds and bumps in the night are an adventure, not a nightmare.
Armed with only their electromagnetic field meters and thermal cameras, these brave souls journey to places where the faint of heart fear to tread.
But is it for real? Is there any science behind the search for cold spots and orbs? Or is it just wishful thinking?
Next episode we’ll be speaking with the members of E.C.H.O.E.S., “Edmonton Cursed or Haunted Observation and Examination Services”. Facebook group here.
Check out Edmonton’s gang of ghost hunters on the next Q Transmissions, every Friday at 6pm.

Nathan has posted the séance video!
Visit our beautiful new YouTube channel to look for any errant orbs, fleeting flickers or inappropriate supernatural sexual activity. Oh, how I wish I was joking about that last part.

Thanks so much to everyone who donated!
We raised $1,420 on our show and brought the FunDrive grand total to over $100,000! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Everyone who donated gets a Q Transmissions sticker. Congrats to our two grand prize winners – one gets din-din (Hooters!) w/ Des and I, the other gets to pick a show topic. Whee!!
Here are some of the links, well, all of the links, I used to prep for tonight’s seance show.

Bible versus condemning contacting the dead
I know, I’m an atheist, so what do I care what the Bible says? Well, I usually don’t. However, there are some smart bits in there, like this one: “Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God.” – Leviticus 19:31 (okay, except for the last sentence…)
Chriss Angel does a seance, part one, two, and three.
Derren Brown does a seance (and does a much better job), part one, two, three, four, five, and six.
Again, a HUGE thanks to all who donated. CJSR cannot exist without the support of its listeners. I’d write, “bless you”, but that’s not very becoming of an atheist. Um, how about “thank Science for you”? No, too South Park. I know: thanks. Thanks so very, very much.
Seance update!
Q Transmissions favorite Laura LaForce will be acting as medium for our Hallowe’en seance show! W00t!

Boo!
This Friday will be our second FunDrive show. We did well last week, but we wanna do weller this week.
Our next show will be our scariest ever, I hope. We’re going to spend the first half of the show talking about the history of the seance. In the second half, we’re actually gonna hold one, live in the studio. Our biggest fan, Nathan, will be videotaping it, so check in again after the show to see the video.
A reminder of the things that might entice you to donate (other than ’cause it’s the right thing to do):
- get a Q Transmissions sticker
- a chance to pick a topic for the show – you pick, Des & I research, find a guest, and give it our all
- a chance to have dinner w/ me & Des – we even pick up the tab
Last week’s winner of a movie w/ us was thrilled. Thrilled, I say! You could feel this thrill – if you give CJSR money.
How to donate: www.cjsr.com, or 780-492-2577, ext. 1.
Do it.
